More Than 6,000 Industrial Units To Be Prohibited In Delhi Within The Next 15 Days

Delhi, 16th October 2018: In 2004, the Apex Court formed a committee led by the Delhi Chief Secretary to investigate such industrial units which are situated in residential colonies and had not shifted out. The Apex Court wanted the committee to take action against such industrial units but somehow they failed to do that. The DDA Vice Chairman, 3 Civic Bodies, and the Delhi Police Heads were the parts of the committee.

As per the latest real estate news Delhi, on Thursday, the Delhi government informed the Supreme Court that more than 6,000 industrial units are operating from residential colonies. The Delhi government is going to seal those units in the next 15 days. They also asked the Supreme Court that how these industrial units were able to operate for 14 years while they were violating the orders.

After the Apex Court failed to perform its duty properly, on 13th September, the Delhi government held a meeting regarding the same issues and charted out an action plan. They took actions according to the plan and identified over 6,000 such units. Advocate D. N. Goburdhun, a Delhi government official informed Deepak Gupta and Madan B. Lokur, belong to the justice bench that in the next 15 days they will disconnect the electricity and water supply.

Delhi government informed the media that 51,837 applications were received for industrial unit relocations, and 21,960 applications were approved and allotted alternative lands. According to the property news Delhi, since August 2018, 15,888 of such illegal industrial units had been sealed by the Delhi government and 6,072 more such units are yet to be sealed.

After sealing the remaining premises, Delhi government will start the process of identifying the remaining 29,877 industrial units which are remained to be allotted alternative lands.
