Land Acquisition Process For The Proposed Maharashtra-Ahmedabad Bullet Train Project Is Finally Underway

Mumbai, 6th September 2018: The proposed Maharashtra-Ahmedabad bullet train project is processing at a fast pace, and the first train is expected to be operational in 2023. The total cost allotted for this project is INR. 1.10L Cr.

As per the latest real estate news Mumbai, the Government officials are all set to acquiring land in Maharashtra including Palgarh district for the Maharashtra-Ahmedabad bullet train project. On Saturday, a renowned NHSRCL official said that this acquisition process would get completed by the end of this year. The official also said that a service road would also appear over the high-speed corridor to save some section for its use of the general public.

Achal Khare, the Managing Director of the National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited, said that there were apprehensions in people’s thoughts and misconceptions. They have managed to clear those problems and win their hope. They will have the ability to finish the acquisition process by December end this year. He was addressing a media conference at Virathan Khurd Village at Palghar which is one among those 73 project affected villages.

Palghar has witnessed ongoing agitations surrounding land Acquisition with villagers falling to part their lands for the project.

However, an official of the project implementation bureau said 45 villages from 73 in the district had given their consent to the land acquisition procedure.

Achal Khare said that there were apprehensions among the residents that 200 feet of land would be acquired where the requirement is just 60 feet. Marathi speaking officials have also been appointed to reach out to them and converse about the project and allay their concerns.

Parashuram Kashinath Gaikwad, one of those probably affected households in Virathan Khurd stated that they wouldn’t budge in their place unless a job is offered to a family member.

About 110 Kilometers of this 508 Kilometers train corridor moves through Palghar District. The project requires an estimated land of 300 hectares across 73 villages, impacting about 3,000 people at a stretch. Land acquisition for the bullet train project which will cut down the distance from Mumbai to Ahmedabad to maximum 3 hours instead of 7 hours has been bitterly opposed by the fruit growers and tribals in Palghar district.

An alternative source of employment could get generated when the project comes up, though providing jobs as required might not be viable, said Achal Khare. He also noted that the ability sets would be relegated to the people because the undertaking would throw open many opportunities including the demand for drivers and he also ensured their self-employment.

The report says, the officials have cut down the involvement of intermediaries and are expecting to peacefully get the consent of the landowners and their further support.

The bullet train having an average speed of 320 Kilometers per hour will connect the 508-Kilometer high-speed Mumbai-Ahmedabad corridor.
