Pune, 3rd November 2018: According to the news on real estate India, after the implementation of Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) Act, Maharashtra was one of the first states to take quick initiative regarding the property registration process under the Act. But, it seems that a considerable number of real estate projects remained unregistered despite the instant effort.

In the first week of October, the Mumbai Grahak Panchayat (MGP), the citizen’s consumer forum conducted a ten-day long online survey to identify the unregistered properties of Maharashtra. The consumer forum has its presence in Pune as well as in Mumbai. They got over a thousand and found almost 50 per cent of the respondents saying that their projects are not registered yet, and they have no clue about the MahaRERA. Lack of awareness is one of the significant issues of RERA Act violation, said the MGP officials.

As per the latest property news Pune, the online survey by MGP was held between 29th September and 10th October. The focus of the survey was divided into two categories.

  1.  Unregistered ongoing real estate projects.
  2. Project builders who have received 10% of the apartment cost from the homebuyers but have not registered the agreement for sale under the RERA Act.

MGP received a total of 1,203 responses under both of the categories.

Shirish Deshpande, MGP Chairman, said that MGP is all set to take up the non-registration issue with the MahaRERA authority along with the request to take immediate action against the ongoing unregistered projects. MGP has also planned to expose the builders who have received more than 10% of the apartment cost from the homebuyers without registering the agreement for sale.

According to Deshpande, this online survey is an eye-opener for the Maharashtra Authority to create RERA awareness on an urgent basis.
